WHAT IS YEL TEST PREPARATION?
YEL Test Preparation is a 1-on-1 tutoring system that focuses exclusively on preparing students for success on the ACT and the SAT standardized tests. The system is built on three components: test content review, personalized strategies for time management and test taking, and a unique confidence-building program. Together, these components significantly reduce test anxiety and dramatically increase test scores.
HOW DOES THE PROGRAM WORK?
The first step toward success is a free consultation between the tutor and the family, including the student. This is a chance for everyone to get to know one another and to start building a relationship. At the meeting, we discuss goals, initial strategies, logistics, and strengths and areas of improvement, do a little diagnostic work, and decide whether this is a good fit. From there, we agree to work together on a session by session basis. Each 2-hour session includes a check-in, a concentrated focus on a particular test subject area, interactive practice, and a variety of confidence and esteem building exercises. Typically, the tutoring takes place between 3:30 and 7:30 PM on weekdays or throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday, usually at your home (unless you request otherwise). All students are unique, so there is no standardized program length. For best results, at least four sessions are recommended.

WHAT DO STUDENTS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THE YEL APPROACH?
"Prior to tutoring, I struggled very much with Math and Science. I often worked too slowly and could not finish them on time. But Mr. Marchenko made me realize that my problems were only psychological and were rooted in issues of self-doubt and lack of confidence. He built up my self-image and he instilled within me an immense amount of confidence. He prepares you psychologically for the test. He instills within you a confidence that dramatically shifts your mindset toward the test, which in turn allows you to express your full potential." Aitan, 17
